Jason knew how hard Donna had tried to save the last world they'd been to. He knew because he tried too. They had all been ready to die with this world that they had tried to fix after essentially bringing about it's destruction in the first place. Though, she had tried her best, Jason was sure she was beating herself up about it, and even though she tended to treat him like shit, he wanted to help her feel better.

Kyle tried to block his path, but Jason got him to back off by distracting him with the others in their group. Once Jason made his way over to Donna, he sat next to her quietly, waiting for her to talk first. She didn't even really notice his presence for a while, but soon Donna started talking.

“You know, I really thought we could save that world, that it wouldn't end up like so many of the others we have passed through,” she murmured. “I guess at this point, we should just expect the worst...”

Jason put a hand on her shoulder, his attempt at comfort. “Can't get your hopes crushed if they're not too high to begin with,” he offered quietly.

Donna turned to him, attempting a stern look and maybe to say something about that attitude not getting them anywhere, but at that point, she really couldn't. “You're right, Jason,” she said quietly. “This multiverse trip is just...”

“A lot for a person to handle on their own,” Jason filled in for her. “That's why you've got other people to lean on.”

Donna gave him a bit of a smile before hugging him. “Thanks,” she said softly.

Jason smiled a bit himself before hugging her back, just holding her until they needed to go to the next Earth.
