Watching her daughter sleep soundly in her new bed was something Steph had done every night since she had gotten her daughter back about a week ago. She had been thinking about something, unsure if giving it to her daughter was a good idea or not. Before she could brood too long over it, a pair of arms wrapped around her waist.
Steph looked up to see Roy smiling down at her before kissing her forehead and pulling her close against him. “Hey there,” he whispered, looking down at what she was holding in her hands. “A present for Carrie?”
“I bought it when I thought I might be keeping her,” Steph murmured, rubbing the soft material of the pink baby blanket between her fingers. “She's three now, but I still want her to have it, I think.”
Roy nodded, resting his chin on her head, hugging her tight. “That why you go her name embroidered on it today?” he asked teasingly.
Steph just bumped him in the chin with her head a little before turning around in his arms. “You knew?” she asked quietly.
“I knew you were brooding about something,” he murmured, running a hand over her cheek. “I found the receipt for the embroidering on the coffee table.”
She flushed a little. “Guess I'm not that sneaky, huh?” she said sheepishly.
Roy kissed her forehead. “You don't need to hide anything from me,” he stated firmly before pulling her into a short kiss. “Now, go give your daughter her baby blanket from her mother.”
Steph smiled as she slipped out of Roy's arms, quietly draping the baby blanket over Carrie's sleeping form. Some of Carrie's short red hair fell in her eyes, so Steph lightly brushed it away before giving her a light good night kiss on her forehead, murmuring words of love. When she was done, Steph took the hand Roy offered her, and they quietly left Carrie's room hand in hand.
