“Hey, Rydia!”

“...how do you do that?”

“Eh? Do what?”

“Grin like that and make me feel like Bahamut was just summoned in my stomach...”

Edge grinned more. “That’s just my magic!”

Rydia shifted nervously from foot to foot. First Edge and now Kain. Her stomach would not be able to handle all this ‘summoning.’

Kain turned to look at Rydia’s nervous form. He removed his helm to look Rydia in the eye. “Rydia, is something wrong?” he asked.

Rydia stiffened when she saw Kain’s bright blue eyes fixed on her. She gulped, feeling that funny feeling in her stomach intensify. “N-nothing, Kain,” she managed to say, turning away from the blond dragoon.

Kain grabbed Rydia’s shoulder and spun her around. “Did I do something, Rydia?” he asked, sounding almost hurt.

“No! But I...” she gulped. “I get this feeling when you’re around, and it’s strange because I get it around Edge too. I’ve never felt like this before, and Edge said it was magic, but that doesn’t make any sense... Magic, that I understand, but this, I don’t.”

A silence passed between the two, making Rydia’s stomach continue to ‘summon.’ Then a chuckle broke the silence. “What’s so funny!?” Rydia exclaimed unhappily as Kain’s chuckles died out.

“Rydia, it’s not funny. It’s very serious, but I can’t help you,” he stated.

Rydia looked downcast. “Why not?” she asked.

“I- Well, it depends on who you choose, Rydia,” Kain answered.

“Choose?”

I saw a world enchanted
Spirits and charms in the air

“Ashura?”

“Rydia. What are you doing down here? I thought you were staying in the upper world...”

“I am, but I don’t know anyone else who can answer this question for me...”

Ashura smiled at the girl that had become like a daughter to her. “Yes?”

“I... You remember Edge and Kain?”

“Of course. They seemed like fine fighters.”

“They are, but...”

“But...?

“When I’m around them, it feels like there are summons inside my stomach...”

Ashura laughed, and Rydia frowned. “Kain did that too! Just not as loud!” Rydia exclaimed, feeling very stupid, not knowing what everyone else must know.

“I’m sorry, child, but you’re just in love.”

“...what?”

“In love, Rydia.”

“But with both of them...?”

“Only you can know that.”

Rydia paused, thinking about the feelings she had for both men. “For both of them, I feel the same,” Rydia paused again. “Ashura, Kain said it all depends on my choice. Do I really have to choose?”

Ashura stayed silent for a moment. “I have two lovers, but I’m not sure how your world takes that kind of arrangement. You have to ask them, Rydia.”

“All right... Thank you, Ashura!”

Ashura smiled as Rydia headed back to the upper world. She hoped all good things for her daughter.

Edge glanced to Kain, confused to why he was there. Edge thought, by the tone in Rydia’s voice and the things she had said a few days before, that this would be something just between the two of them. What was Rydia up to, Edge wondered.

Kain noticed Edge’s confused glances and immediately felt badly for the ninja. At least Kain knew what this was bout; Rydia was going to chose between them. Kain did not feel too confident, even though he seemingly knew a bit more about this meeting than Edge. He had no reason to believe it would not be a let down.

When Rydia entered the room, Edge greeted her warmly while Kain tried to smile, but could not because he felt that he was inevitably going to have to hear Rydia choose Edge. “I choose you both,” Rydia stated, knocking Kain out of his reverie.

“W-what?” both men asked in unison.

Rydia looked down with a blush. “What do you mean choose? I thought...” Edge trailed off.

Kain stayed silent, waiting for Rydia’s explanation. “I like you both, a lot,” Rydia started. “I really don’t want to choose between you... I spoke to Ashura, and in the Land of Summons, it’s acceptable... Is it not here...?”

Kain and Edge glanced at each other. “I don’t mind, if you don’t, Edge,” Kain stated. “All I want is for her to be happy, and if it’s what she wants...”

Edge looked back and forth between Kain and Rydia. “Sure, I don’t mind, Rydia,” Edge answered with a grin, throwing an arm around Kain’s shoulder before wrapping his other arm around Rydia’s waist and pulling her in close. “I get pretty blond as an extra bonus.”

Kain blushed. “Hey!” Kain shouted indignantly while Rydia giggled, snuggling into Edge’s side before pulling away a giving each man a kiss on his cheek.
