DCU Fanfic: The Irredeemable City
Apr. 6th, 2009 11:11 amTitle: The Irredeemable City
Fandom: DCU
Character(s): Jason
Pairing(s): N/A
Word Count: 272
Genre: general
Rating: PG/K+
Notes: I have no idea where this came from. All I know about Hub City is in this fic, seriously. And that Blue Beetle occasionally worked with the Question there, but that has no baring on this fic. Jason had had enough after the trip through the multiverse. He ends up in Hub City, a place that may be worse off than Gotham. Written for

After that jaunt around the multiverse, Jason just wanted away from everything he ever knew. He wanted anything to do with Gotham or bats or Jokers. He just wanted some peace. Jason knew he wasn't going to get that no matter where he went, but once he wandered into a city worse off than Gotham, he knew he could at least do something worthwhile.
Hub City didn't have the same type of criminal element as Gotham did, but he was sure even without the crazies that the place was far worse off. At least Gotham had Batman, though Jason loathed to admit it. This city was run by the criminal element, and they didn't seem to have any of the cape and cowl crowd around to protect it.
Once he settled into the filthy city, Jason did some thorough research worthy of a bat, or in his case, a former bat. He found that the city did used to have vigilante, the Question A.K.A. Vic Sage, but he had died of lung cancer a few years back. He did hand over the mantle to Renee Montoya before he kicked it, but she was stationed in Gotham.
Seeing no other way for the city to be reformed and saved, Jason took up the name Red Robin again, having Red Robin's first flight in Hub City be flying into the mayor's office to weed out the corrupt officials. From there, he'd see what else he could do. The city may look irredeemable, but so did Jason most of the time, so he felt a connection, one strong enough to become Hub City's new protector.
