Watching as Mello paced around their dorm while ranting gave Matt a headache, and when asked, he'd give that as the reason he was gaming even though Mello had told him not to. When Mello noticed the gameboy in Matt's hands, Mello grabbed it and chucked it across the room. Matt nearly pouted; he could still hear Mello ranting, so Matt didn't have to see him for the words to sink in.
“You are not paying attention to me,” Mello growled unhappily as he stopped his pacing to stop in front of Matt.
Matt waved a hand dismissively in the air. “Not everyone has to watch you to hear you, Mello,” he stated calmly as Mello sneered. “Also, hearing your Near rants get a little tiresome after a while.”
“They're important!” Mello snapped. “I'm going to win against him, and when I do, history will never even remember him! You know why?”
Matt nearly rolled his eyes behind his goggles. “Because 'the victor writes the history books,'” Matt said, mimicking Mello's voice easily.
Mello's scowled. “I do not sound like that,” he grumbled before shaking his head. “See? See how important it is that I win against Near?”
Matt sighed. “Okay, sure, but Mello, it's not like your life depends on getting better scores than Near,” he said as he leaned back in his chair. “How will beating Near help you with real life, anyway?”
“It will! If I don't beat him, I'll never be able to show L I should be his successor!” Mello announced as he started pacing again.
Matt shook his head, knowing he couldn't stop Mello from doing anything. He'd just roll with it, and hope that if Mello did 'write the history books,' that he'd give Matt an honorable mention for putting up with him.
