Notes: Written for comment_fic. Okay, I like this one, quite a lot. Prompt: "DCU, Dick Grayson (Batman)/Michael Carter (Booster Gold), "You're not Batman."." Booster comes back from a mission, and he wanted to talk to the only person who knows about how he saves the world everyone to find a new Batman in his place... Post-BftC continuity.

Booster needed help, and the only person who could give it to him was Batman. Unfortunately, the man standing in front him was definitely not Batman, at least not the Batman that knew Booster was really a hero, saving time and space as they knew it. No, this person was not Batman, not at all.

“You're not Batman,” Booster let slip out, and he was glad he hadn't brought Skeets with him; he was sure there would have been a sarcastic comment for that.

Batman frowned, not real Batman frown. “I am now, Booster,” he stated, sounding about as happy about being Batman as Booster was that he was Batman. “The Batman before me...died recently.”

Booster's face fell. “How?” he asked, along with the silent 'didn't I know?' tacked on the end.

“During the last crisis,” not-Batman answered. “He left you a message. Do you want to hear it?”

Booster nodded and let the new Batman lead him to the chamber to watch Batman's last message to him. It told him not to carry the burden of the world alone. Booster took the words to heart, and when he saw the new Batman after watching the message, Booster offered him the same advice.

I really like Bruce being nice to Booster. I think it's lovely that Bruce left him a message.

After Ted died (the second time) Bruce was all "I know I'm not Ted Kord, but if you ever need someone I'm here" and I made happy noises for about ten minutes.

After that issue, I was cursing Batman because he made me want Booster/Batman! Gaaah. >_<;; The angst would be oh so lovely. >>;;

Nah, I don't want Booster/Bruce. I don't think Booster could ever really get over the fact that Bruce is quite responsible for Ted's death.

I like angst. I just can't see that pairing working. I think Tim would be outraged.
