If she were honest with herself, she knew she was in love with Spike, and that was what terrified her senseless. The world was ending, there were killer almost unkillable vamps running amok in Sunnydale, but what terrified her the most was honestly being in love with Spike.

She couldn't tell him, not even if she hadn't been in a denial. The world was ending, and they had to stop it together. There was no time for love, and when the world didn't end and Sunnydale was just a crater in the ground, Buffy really wished there had been time.
