It was the first time she would be bringing her daughter to the park, and she wanted it to be perfect. Roy just laughed when she said this, mentioning that Carrie has probably been to a park before. Steph just made a face at him, and told him no kisses for the rest of the day until he earned them. Of course, then she had to tell herself that Roy making puppy dog eyes at her was not deserving or even earning a kiss.
Once Steph was ready with her picnic basket, she shoved in Roy's arms with a smile that said carrying her things would be part of earning his kisses as she went to get the girls ready. Lian was already dressed, so she helped Steph with Carrie. When Carrie was dressed in her play clothes, they headed out.
When they made it to the park, Lian asked if she could bring Carrie to the swings. Roy agreed then glanced at Steph who nodded. Lian grinned and grabbed Carrie's hand, showing her where the swings were in this particular park.
Steph glanced over to Roy before kissing Roy on the cheek. “How did I earn that one, beautiful?” he asked slyly.
“For having such an amazing daughter,” she answered with a smile before poking him in the chest. “And you'll get another one if you set up the picnic blanket and food while I watch the girls.”
Roy chuckled. “Of course, my lady. Here to serve,” he joked as he went find a nice shaded spot for their picnic blanket.
Steph smiled as she watched the girls. “Hold on tight, Carrie! And make sure to move your legs like I told you, okay?” Lian announced.
Carrie nodded, holding onto the chains of the swing real tight. “Yup! Ready, Lian!” she said happily as Lian began to push the swing, and Carrie pumped her legs back and forth like Lian showed her.
Steph was so entranced watching the girls play that she didn't even notice Roy come up behind her until his arms were wrapped around her and his chin was resting on the top of her head. “Done with setting up the picnic, Steph,” he whispered in her ear as he watched their girls. “Do I get my kisses now?”
She laughed a bit as she turned in his arms. “Okay, I guess so,” she said before getting on her tip toes a little to kiss Roy full on the mouth.
Roy melted into the kiss, kissing her back until he heard giggling. “Eww, Daddy and Stephie are kissing!” Lian shouted from the swings, teasing. “No kissing in the park, Daddy!”
“Yeah, no kissing mama in the park!” Carrie joined in, giggling with Lian afterwards.
Steph pulled away with a laugh before leaning in to whisper in Roy's ear. “I guess I'll just owe you those kisses later,” she whispered seductively before pulling away to turn to the girls. “Okay, no more kissing here. Time for lunch, girls!”
Roy laughed, hugging Steph again, moving his mouth to her ear real quick. “I'll be counting on that,” he told her before pulling away to gather up the girls in his strong arms. “You heard the lady. Lunchtime, girls.”
Lian and Carrie giggled as they moved around in Roy's arms before he dropped they easily on the picnic blanket. Steph joined them, smoothing out Carrie's messy red hair before serving out the food. Roy gave Steph a smile, who returned it in kind. Before long the food was gone, and the girls were ready to play more. Roy and Steph let them run off to play, as long as they stayed where they could see them.
They watched their girls, Roy leaning against the tree with Steph in his lap, his arms wrapped around her. When the girls were totally occupied with playing, Roy stole a few kisses and so did Steph, happily. Steph was content, and she could never have thought of a better first outing together to the park as a family.
