comment_fic. Prompt: "DCU, Tim Drake/author's choice, boys don't cry" Tim can't cry. Well, not when he wants to, anyway.

When he saw her again, Tim almost cried. They would have been happy tears, but crying at all in front of Batman was just not an option, so he picked Steph up and kissed her. She was as surprised as he was and melted into the kiss happily.
Later, when the euphoria of having his dead girlfriend back wore off, he wanted to cry, for a different reason. She had been alive for all this time, and she hadn't told him. His mind raced, giving him as many reasonable explanations as he could, but none of them could really be the truth. Steph hadn't planned to tell him she was alive. She hadn't planned to come back to him.
He had the worst year, maybe two years, of his life, and she hadn't wanted to come back to him. This all hit him during patrol a few nights later, so instead of breaking down, he decided to channel it into breaking some faces. He couldn't cry, and by the time patrol was over, he was too drained to do anything other than collapse on his bed in one of his many Robin Nests. While he slept, he could cry, and no one would know except him and his pillow.

Date: 2010-04-12 03:14 pm (UTC)I really feel like this is one of the most unexplored relationship issues in the DCU. I adore Steph, and because of a commentfic I wrote for you a while back, I've learned to see the situation from her point of view, too, but in Tim's place? I would never forgive her.

Date: 2010-04-12 03:46 pm (UTC)It really is. I'm glad I could make you see Steph's POV in the other fic (may ask which fic?). <3
Well, I think Tim's forgiven her with his own latest fuck ups. Probably not enough to get back together, but at least they could be friends. ...and hopefully learn from Dick/Babs fuck ups of keep trying when it's just not working. :/
