DCU Fanfic: Just As Planned
Jun. 20th, 2010 01:45 pmTitle: Just As Planned
Fandom: DCU
Character(s): Roy, Steph, Lian
Pairing(s): Roy/Steph
Word Count: 629
Genre: fluff/family
Rating: PG/K+
Notes: It's Father's Day. Most Fathers suck, in my experience (there are some that don't but bah). SO, the only good father DC really has is Roy Harper, so I'm giving him some loving. This is for both my summer long Abused Characters Need Love Challenge and my June Steph Needs More Love Challenge. Lian makes plans to surprise her daddy. Steph helps, just a little. (Canonically, Steph has no b-day, but last year I decided 06/21 was her birthday, and it is now my fanon. XD)

It's Father's Day, and Steph knows it is when she wakes up pressed against Roy's well muscled chest. Not because it's always close to her birthday, which is tomorrow, but this time she knows because when her eyes blink open, she sees Lian balancing a tray of breakfast food (nothing that requires her to use the oven without supervision).
“Stephie, shh, don't wake daddy yet,” Lian whispers fiercely as she quietly places the the tray of cereal, milk, and other breakfast foods on the bedside table. “I got more plans.”
Steph smiles, nods, and makes a motion, pretending to zip her lips as Lian bounces out of the room, her little plan clearly in motion. Once Lian's left the room, Steph chews on her lip. She figures she should feign sleep, but she's afraid if she settles back down, she may jostle Roy. Not only that, Father's Day always makes her think of her father, and she always contemplates whether or not she should visit his grave.
Roy shifts beside her, clearly waking up, and that's too soon to mesh with whatever Lian has planned, Steph's sure. So, like a good partner in crime, Steph makes a distraction for Lian by kissing her boyfriend before he can open his eyes and notice the tray on the bedside table beside them. Her plan works, and Roy wraps his arms around her, not opening his eyes as he pulls Steph on top of him.
Steph keeps the kiss nice and languid, trying not to heat things up even though Roy's morning wood is quite apparent against her stomach. Nope, there will be no traumatizing Lian, Steph thinks as she pulls away from the kiss and rolls off Roy once she hear Lian's little footsteps coming back.
“Keep your eyes closed, babe,” Steph whispers to him, stroking his chest lightly. “I promise you won't be disappointed.”
“Oh?” he whispers back, a dirty smirk on his.
Before Roy could suggest anything too suggestive, Lian bounces into the room with her hand behind her back as she jumps onto the middle of the bed. “Happy Father's Day, daddy!” she announce as she tackles him with a hug.
Roy makes a 'oof' sounds as falls back against the pillows with a laugh and an armful of excited ten year old daughter. “Is it?” he asks, hugging her back.
Lian pulls away, making a face. “Yeah! Daddy, you forgot?” she asks as she puts something in his hands. “Oh well, makes this a bigger surprise!”
Steph giggles from her spot as Roy opens his card that Lian put in his hand. “Steph, did you have a hand in this?” he asks as he looks over the handmade card's beautiful penmanship.
“A little with the calligraphy,” Steph says, “but Lian picked the colors and helped with the capital letters.”
Lian beams. “Yup! Don't they look good?”
“They do! Thanks, etai yazi,” Roy says as he pulls Lian into another and kisses her cheek before pulling Steph into a hug too. “Thanks for helping her with this, Steph.”
“Daddy! You can thank Stephie better than a hug!” Lian complains, giving Steph a sly look.
Roy huffs. “Hey, since when did you start telling me what do?” he asks teasingly.
Lian huffs, just like her daddy. “When you don't do it right, daddy. Kiss Stephie.”
Steph laughs, and Roy complies with a small peck. Lian gives her daddy a little shove, and Roy laughs before really kissing Steph. Lian cheers, and her plan went as planned, even if they forgot about the breakfast tray. Lian doesn't mind because her daddy's happy, and it's like having a real family with Steph around.
