Steph’s life was always weird and screwed up. The one bright spot used to be her relationship with Tim then she went and screwed up. Of course, if Tim heard her say that, he’d tell her that wasn’t true. Maybe it wasn’t, but she was pregnant, again. How did was that not a screw up?

Sure, it wasn’t either hers or Tim’s fault that the condoms were defective, but no amount of money from the company was going to fix this. Tim knew her views on abortions, and this time around, he admitted he didn’t want to put the baby up for adoption. He had just lost his father, the only blood related family he had left. Steph didn’t blame him for wanting to keep the baby close.

He also rationalized that Bruce was offering to adopt him, and Tim said he would accept. Then he would be a billionaire's son, and their baby would never want for anything. Steph liked the security that offered, but she told Tim point blank that she wouldn’t move into the manor. After being Robin then the Black Mask...thing, she wasn’t quite ready to see Bruce when she was going to be so vulnerable. She might say something she couldn’t take back, and she wasn’t going to risk putting that kind of tension between Bruce and Tim.

And if she did live at the manor, that would make a bigger complication. Jasmine. Steph had told her she was alive, even though Bruce had made it, so Jasmine thought Steph was dead. She couldn’t bear letting Jasmine think it was her fault she died. Maybe there was a little more to it than that.

Steph loved Jasmine. It was different than how she loved Tim, but it was there. She couldn’t go somewhere where Jasmine would never visit her. Tim was wary of Jasmine, especially after everything that had happened, but he was willing to compromise. Tim had had on a crush on Jasmine, back when she had been Robin. Steph knew given a little time, she could get those feelings to resurface.

So some nights, she’d sleep in Jasmine’s bed, and some nights she’d sleep in Tim’s bed, his hand always resting on her belly. She hoped for the day when they’d get along better, even if only for her, but for now, this worked, and it wasn’t as screwed up as everyone thought.
