So, going to NYCC in a few weeks. Flat broke at this point, so Bek offered to buy me a commission there for Christmas. Best Person Ever. <3 So I looked up the people going there, and someone will have to keep me from smack JT Krul or banging Tony Daniel's head against a wall until he goes back to just drawing and my list of artists I'd want commissions from has been narrowed down to three.

Amanda Conner, Adam Hughes, and Francis Manapul. If these names mean nothing to you, Conner did Power Girl #1-12, Hughes drew a a lot of Catwoman covers and the that women in DC thing (many of the ladies in white dresses with Selina in the black one), and Manapul did the first few Red Robin covers and the first handful of Adventure Comics.

See my dilemma? Guh, I don't even. I'd ask Manapul for Jason. The other two would probably be Steph, though a Conner drawn Jason could be adorable. XD

EDIT: Also, I did not know Geoff Johns was kinda cute. He surprised me just like Judd Winick did. Hell, I need my brain to stop thinking all the guys behind comics look like a cross between Dan Didio and Alan Moore. >>;;

You do know that Hughes' commissions have to be arranged for prior and tend to cost upwards of $1,000, right? Anyone that's big-big like Conner would probably run maybe ....$400+, as well. Unless you're talking quick sketches. Hughes does them in this style (http://i55.tinypic.com/20960xx.jpg) for about $60-90. Most do have artwork already at their table, but it tends to be stuff they've already sketched out and inked and usually never under $200. Your best bet is going to someone relatively unknown/not a pro, tbh.

Prints tend to be a bit more reasonable (about $30-40) and sketchbooks are usually about $15-$20, which is usually the best investment if you think you'll ever resell.

Oh, and Manapul's were $350 in 2008. And that was before he became a regular artist on the Flash and had a show on Sy Fy (he's that dude on Beast Legends). I'd assume it's shot up.

Guh! Lucky lucky you! I'd go with Manapul myself, that dude is FANTASTIC. Right up there with Ramos and Jo Chen as my favorite comic artists.

Now I'm just going to go over to this dark corner here and nurse my envy until it turns me into a world-ending mega-villain...

Hey, if you see a woman cosplaying Granny Goodness, that's [livejournal.com profile] bitemetechie, a fellow fanfic writer.

Manapul might not be the best choice for a Jason commission. He draws very pretty pictures, but according to not_unwise's last con report, he doesn't really know one Robin from the others and just draws what he's told, when it comes to them.

I still adore him on adventure though.

Manapul does great work and would love to see what he did with Jason, since his style is usually more retro like.

Or Connor would make it a really adorable, cheesecake like Jason....

Hey, I just saw the "going to NYCC" part! :D

I'm going to be there too! I'm only a state away, so I'll probably be there all three days!

Last year, I was annoying Johns to bring back Superboy, and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED! Clearly, I have some DC fanboy superpowers! I shall use them for good. Mostly. Except when I convince Sterling Gates and Brian Q. Miller to make Steph/Kara canon. :D

And I'll have to show you the table my editor is at, so you can get MY comic! :D

I'm squeeing for you. I loved the first run of Power Girl, though I think I'm finally accepting the new art.
